Chocolate Chip Cookies, Sweet Memories & a Little Love in Every Bite! 🍪❤️
Some recipes are more than just recipes. They're memories, traditions, and little pieces of our hearts that we get to share with the people we love.

I think the very first thing I ever baked with my mom was chocolate chip cookies. We both loved to bake, and I have such wonderful memories of spending time together in the kitchen.
All these years later, baking is still my happy place. ❤️
There's just something special about being in the kitchen, especially on a chilly day, with the oven warming the house and the wonderful smell of something homemade filling the air.
But for me, baking has never been just about the food.
It's about creating something special for my husband, my boys, and now my grandchildren. It's about sharing homemade goodies with friends and family. It's about making someone smile with a little something made from scratch.
And, of course, it's about feeding my crafting ladies! 😂
Do They Come for the Crafting or the Cookies? ✂️🍪
Tomorrow I have another crafting class, and one of my favorite things to do is bake something different for the ladies each time they come.
I love planning our projects, preparing all the supplies, and getting everything ready for a fun day of creating together.
But I also love deciding what I'm going to bake!
I'm beginning to think some of my crafters come more for the homemade goodies than they do for the crafting!
LOL! And you know what? I'm perfectly okay with that! ❤️
This time, I decided to go back to where it all began.
Good old-fashioned chocolate chip cookies!
The Original Toll House Cookies — Just Like Mom and I Made
I've been making this same chocolate chip cookie recipe since I was a little girl.
It's the original Toll House recipe that Mom and I used, and it's the one I've continued to make for my family all these years.
I've noticed that the recipe printed on the back of the Nestlé chocolate chip packages has changed over the years, but I always go back to my tried-and-true version.
Why mess with something that's been making people happy for decades?
These cookies have slightly crispy edges, delicious chocolate chips, and that wonderful homemade taste that takes me right back to my childhood.
And I'm definitely not shy with the chocolate chips!
The recipe calls for at least a cup, but I prefer a cup and a half. Because really, can you ever have too many chocolate chips? 😉
🍪 My Original Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
1 cup Crisco shortening
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon water
2¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 to 1½ cups chocolate chips (I prefer 1½!)
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Cream together the Crisco shortening, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
Add the eggs and cream together again.
Add vanilla and water, mixing until creamy.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking soda.
Add half of the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and mix well. Add the remaining dry ingredients and mix again.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375°F for 10–12 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.
Remove from the oven and cool on paper towels, just like I've always done!
Enjoy with a cold glass of milk, a hot cup of coffee, or straight from the cooling rack. I won't tell! 😉
A Little Bit of Love in Every Batch ❤️
As I was baking these cookies today, I couldn't help but think about my mom and all those wonderful times we spent together in the kitchen.
I don't think I realized back then just how special those moments would become.
Now, when I'm baking for my family, my grandchildren, or the wonderful ladies who come to my crafting classes, I feel like I'm passing along a little piece of that love.
Food has a way of bringing people together.
It creates traditions, sparks conversations, and makes memories that stay with us long after the last cookie is gone.
And sometimes, the simplest recipes are the ones that mean the most.
So here's to chocolate chip cookies, childhood memories, warm kitchens, and sharing a little homemade happiness with the people we love.

Now let's see if we actually get any crafting done! 😂🍪✂️
Happy Baking!
